S. O. A. R.

January has ended already. This month went by sooo fast. As we bring in the new month, I wanted to first say: I HATE THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY! Now, that I got that out the way; we can move on. lol

February is a LOVE month and I'm feeling like Cinderella, waiting for my shoe! Im kinda glad I will be out of town for Valentines this year. That's all I will say about Valentines. And, let me just say "ALL I WANT FOR VALENTINES IS: my valentines". That's it.
Oh yea, back to the post.

Honestly, February and Valentines is what prompt me into writing this post. The word SOAR keeps circulating in my mind and its resting on my heart.

This is also the name of my women's support group that I haven't fully started.
S-Sistas
O-Overcoming
A-Abusive
R-Relations

I've been asking myself, how can we SOAR?

Well, with that said: I've been thinking and really, I know this sounds dumb; but I've been watching my celeb fans lately. My true heros and people that I admire. Here is what I noticed about them and I truly believe this may play a part for them to SOAR:
S -Surmounting
O -Obstacles
A -and
R -Reigning

On a real note,

Let's face it, if we would be a little honest with ourselves, we may accept the fact that we all have issues that might get the best of us from time to time. It could be numerous of things that get us, so how in the hell, do we move past these issues?
Here's a list that I feel will help:

1. Believe that you can go far. Your vision will only take you as far as you can see.
2. Talk to yourself. Drown out any/all negative voices and begin speaking positive. You become your OWN cheerleader.
3. Press past the limitations and fears. We limit ourselves and put ourselves in a tight box. Bust out and take new actions.
4. Take action. Get out of complaceny and stagant gutter.
5. Be real. Get out of denial, depression, excuses, and empathy. Confront with "realism".

We can S.O.A.R. to surmounting obstacles and reigning!

A Real Man

What A Real Man is:

Ladies, do you know what kind of man you want? or Are you just settling and lowering your standards for any man? Of course, there's more specifics but this is just the foundation that makes the quality of a good man. And, there are plenty of good men out there.

1.)A REAL MAN respects his mother and places his family first.

2.) A REAL MAN RAISES HIS KIDS, by all means necessary.

3.) A REAL MAN supports his woman totally.

4.) A REAL MAN is confident, not egotistical

5.) A REAL MAN makes positive things happen!

6.) A REAL MAN calls you beautiful hot, sexy, or fine.

7.) A REAL MAN wants to spend a lot of time with you.

8.) A REAL MAN can just watch movies with you.

9.) A REAL MAN kisses your forehead just because.....

10.) A REAL MAN doesn't tell you what he thinks you want to hear. He tells you what's real.

11.) A REAL MAN should be treated like one.

12.) A REAL MAN will help you when your in need!

13.) A REAL MAN shows how he feels about you.

14.) A REAL MAN will put you before friends.

15.) A REAL MAN won't deny your needs.

16.) A REAL MAN won't judge the book by it's cover.

17.) A REAL MAN will tell you what he wants.

18.) A REAL MAN won't degrade a woman or put his hands on her in anger.

19.) A REAL MAN sends you flowers Just Because.

20.) A REAL MAN loves you for being YOU!

Nothing More Beautiful than a Black Man

I found this poem and thought it was sooo beautiful.

The truth of the matter is There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man
Whether five-two or six-seven, Yellow fabulous or chocolate heaven
There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man
Long and lean With deep brown eyes Wavy hair or
dreds With strong thick thighs
There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man
Bald head with goatee Cornrows or a fade
A little thick, a little thin Oh the choices to be made
There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man
Scholarly or not Wall Street or hip hop
I'll sing your praises To the mountain top
Head of the home Provider and love Obedient son and loving brother
There's nothing more beautiful Than a black man
A mighty provider you've proven to be
Sacrificing your life to keep me free
Working for crumbs When the table is bare
Praising the Lord Leading the family in prayer
There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man
Holding my hand When fear emerges Remaining faithful,
suppressing your urges Proving your strength
By turning the other cheek Having high hopes When the situation is bleak
There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man
Treating me like the queen I was born to be
Never disrespecting, dishonoring, or disgracing me
Giving me credit when it is due Oh, black man, how I honor you
There is nothing more beautiful Than a black man!

I love my black man.

Amazing Ride

Nothing more need said other than emotions ride hygh in a good and positive way with Mo'Nique giving honor in appropiate order:
God
husband
Work
She said she's on an "Amazing Ride of her Dream".

Express Yoself

Learning how to articulate and express your true feelings really isn't as easy as one may think.

I've noticed that when we begin to express our feelings, not only do we become vulnerable but we also have to communicate our feelings in a way that the other person can understand. This is sometimes hard for people, I know it is very difficult for me. And, if you have to express them in a text message; that is almost impossible!

I want to be able to express how I feel and ask for what I want/need. Regardless whether or not the person accepts my feelings or wants to meet my need. I'm still going to express them, because honestly when you think about it; only you are responsible for expressing yourself. It's up to you.

How people respond is totally up to them and you have no control over that portion. So, stop allowing others to disrespect and walk all over you. Speak up and express yourself. What is the worst thing that could happen?

We are speaking about expressing emotions here and ladies, I think the hardest type of emotion to express is anger. We don't want to sound off as a BITCH, NAG, OR COMPLAINER; so we keep quite and hide the anger.

Well, I'm not accepting anymore krap! KRAP IS NO LONGER A PART OF MY LYFE. If I'm treated with disrespect, it is appropriate to express my anger and I will share this emotion with whomever it is directed to.

In short, I can love a person with all my heart but be angry about his/her behavior and express this emotion to him/her. It doesn't mean I love him/her any less or that I think they are a bad person. It just means STOP or leave me alone.
Emotions should be expressed and expressed in a healthy manner!

Remember we are what we eat. Hopefully we are eating healthy and digesting in a healthy manner.

So EXPRESS YOSELF and be happy.

The Man

The poster here is the 1st place winner of the statewide Poster Contest. This is a beautiful poster and the 11th grade winner is defintely an artist of its own kind. Hopefully soon, you will see this poster in stores as post cards, that is our goal and I believe God will make a way.

History is indeed made up of significant events which shape our future and outstanding leaders who influence our destiny. I feel so honored and priviledged to have spent the last couple days celebrating a man that paved the way. This weekend was very memorable and I personally will cherish the moment forever.

I personally feel that Dr. Martin Luther King's contributions to our history place him in this inimitable position. America needed a Martin Luther King, to expound, expose, and extricate our society from so many wrongs. And, I'm so glad he answered the call. In reality, he provided a candle and he became the light to shine on a road that was less travelled. A road for all people to unite and share together in and for equal justice. This man's qualities cannot be underestimated nor taken for granted.

As we honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today, lets remember him for paving the way and mending those broken fences that society was separating. Keep his dream alive by becoming that individual, that person, that home, that community, that city, that state that made the difference.

I think if we would impart daily into our lives Gandhi's philosophy and techniques and the believes of Dr. King; the Dream will live on and on and on. Because, truly; "The quality, not the longevity, of one's life is what is important." MLK ...

Thank you Dr. King for being the drum major who was able and ready to lead our nation to greater heights through love and peace.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Dear Lover of my soul

Dear Lover of my soul,

I didn't have a chance this weekend to spend any time with Sean or Sierra. Travelling and preparing for the MLK kept me away from home this weekend and I feel a little guilty. I missed both of them and you know my heart wanted to be home enjoying my little Ms. lady. I know Sean and I will have some tyme when I take him back to school in the evening.

Dear Lover, I guess this is what you meant by scarfice and balancing. You promised me that you would take care of all my concerns as I took care of yours. Lover, you know the things that concern me and I'm trusting you. I believe in you like none other and I'm so grateful for you watching over my family.

And yeah lover, As I spent the day travelling and sitting in my hotel listening to the rain, I thank you. Lover, you know how much I love the rain and you know the thoughts I have when it rains. That special someone that makes my heart jump when I think of him and the rain. Thank you lover, for shifting my thoughts and keeping me focused as I enjoyed the rain.

Tonight, I just say again: I love you.

Always Be A Mother

Yesterday, my oldest son nickname TLobus sent me a text message. Its the normal for him but this tyme it was a little different. This tyme he said, "Mom, I just wanted to let you know that me and Sean are very lucky to have a mother like you. You are the best and I love you". Yeah, tears filled my eyes.

I'm Blest, thankful and I'm very grateful to have two loving men whom I have nurtured and raised for 19 and 25 years. My kids, my grand-daughter are my heart and I love them as would the next mother.

It made me realize that authority changes as our kids get older. It made me realize that as a mother or parent for that matter, we no longer have to be the warden figure, laying down the rules and making sure they follow. But now, I've become their sovereign advisor. Just listening, talking and supporting their decisions and letting them grow into their destiny.

One of my major challenges was simply adjusting. Adjusting to the fact that they are grown men able to live and function without me. Yikes, honestly that was hard as a mother to accept that I no longer have young boys. Wow, I can't even believe I'm writing this and feeling comfortable. I suppose I have matured as well.

I had to redefine my boundaries with them and understand that letting go doesnt really mean losing them. Really, it's quite the opposite. As they are maturing, growing and increasing their wisdom in stature; so am I.

I thank God that the level of understanding the growth of my children simply meant for me to be trusting and having faith that they will stumble into their own destiny.

WOW! This weaning experience was very challenging but so necessary for me to understand that I will always be a mother.

Thank you sons!

Survival of the fittest!

First off let me just say that these are my gurls....Soulful loving them all. I've been wanting to write about MJB for some tyme now but kept putting it off. Godknows the perfect tyming though, and I got to give her a Happy Belated Birthday Shout Out. MJB you look Fabulous! I was reading this article in Honey Mag and thought I would post.

Talk about survival of the fittest. These women are all survivors and fit!

Article Taken from Honey Mag:

As we stand at the threshold of our next ten, we’d like to pay tribute to the women who’ve not only survived, but excelled. It’s not enough to simply remain relevant. We’re talking staying power, philanthropy, originality, creativity, star quality, strength, and influence. Presenting our nominees for our first-ever Honey Girl of the Decade Awards. Drum roll please…
And the nominees are:
Mary J. Blige: She’s racked up nine Grammy awards, eight multi-platinum records, and has sold over 48 million records worldwide but the feats don’t stop at R&B. The Queen of Hip hop Soul is also one of the first investors and spokeswomen for Carol’s Daughter cosmetics, as well as the philanthropic founder of FFAWN (Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now in Yonkers.)
Tyra Banks: One of our favorite renaissance entrepreneurs has taken over all aspects of the game — in front of the lens and behind-the-scenes. From her groundbreaking debut as a black supermodel to the success of her uber-successful talk show, Tyra is the epitome of triple threat and the American dream for little girls worldwide. She’s managed to destroy racial barriers in the fashion industry one magazine cover at a time, while remaining grounded in philanthropy with her T-Zone girls’ camp. And let’s not mention her takeover of the CW with America’s Next Top Model and The Tyra Banks Show.
Alicia Keys: Waltzing onto the music scene with Songs in A Minor, she hit record-breaking success as the best-selling new artist and best-selling R&B artist of 2001. As an accomplished classical pianist, songwriter, and actress — she redefines the term “artist.” Above all her musical accomplishments, Alicia Keys distinguishes herself as a Global Ambassador against HIV/AIDS and has been recognized numerous times for her humanitarian efforts in Africa.
Jennifer Lopez: The Bronx bombshell is the only Latina to conquer the best of both worlds — beauty and buzz. Some of us remember her as one of the infamous “Fly Girl” dancers on In Living Color, others still marvel at her outstanding performance as Latina sensation Selena in the 1997 biopic. From her big break in acting, to her foray into the music and fashion world with her clothing line, J.Lo has managed to remain relevant and most importantly she’s still “Jenny from the Block.”
Zoe Saldaña: From ballet shoes to bows and arrows, the divine Dominicana steals the spotlight with her skills and sun-kissed skin. Rising to new-found popularity with her recent roles in Star Trek and Avatar, Zoe holds it down for the Latinas as an accomplished dancer and talented actress. Racking up multiple awards and nominations this year including ALMA, Teen Choice and People, Zoe is the latest Honey girl to watch.
Raven-Symoné: Stealing hearts as The Cosby Show’s Olivia, as a knee-high toddler, Raven-Symoné was the youngin’ to lead the pack of child stars. For many young actors, the story stops at the season finale. Raven-Symoné, however, has found major success throughout the decade as an actress, singer/songwriter, designer and TV producer. There’s something about her smile that touches home with audiences young and old and given her success with Disney franchise’s The Cheetah Girls and That’s So Raven, she’s not going anywhere anytime soon.
Beyonce Knowles: From her days as leading lady of Destiny’s Child to her bodysuit-rocking, stiletto-stomping debut as Sasha Fierce, Beyonce never ceases to amaze. This Texan belle is nothing short of a mogul. Bey’ holds many illustrious titles in her repertoire. As one of the two female artists with the most number ones attained in the 2000’s, and recently named Billboard’s Top Female Artist of the Decade, her name is and will continue to be at the tip of everyone’s tongue.

I believe these women to be STRONG WOMEN survivoring and fit!

ASSHOLE's who wants them?

Memo to all Women:
I've been thinking alot about what kind of men that I've been attracted to lately. I'm embarrassed to say that all the men in my lyfe have been ASSHOLES. I know that too says alot about me as a woman too.

Effective immediately, please try and avoid as much as possible this type of man. Knowing some of the red flags will help you decide if this man is a 'GOOD TRUE SOUL OF A MAN' or if he is an ASSHOLE. If you see the BEWARE sign gurl: Back dat booty up, turn yourself around and run, hop, jump, skid whatever you need to do to scurry away from this man!! I would show pictures of what this type of man looks like, but honestly they all look different but carry the same damn trait of being an ASSHOLE.
So, as you date; watch for signs:

Definitions (I couldn't believe there were so many):

1. A totally and completely passive-aggressive JERK who believes the world SHOULD and MUST revolve around his own wants and needs and whims and who therefore has a sick stupid disregard for the universal law of "reaping what you sow" cuz he "thinks" it SURELY could not apply to or negatively impact him because he thinks he's too much "The S_ _ t!!!"

2. A man who treats women like they don't matter and thinks his shit don't stink.

3. Excretory opening at the end of the alimentary canal insulting terms of address for people who are stupid or irritating or ridiculous a person who is stupid, foolish, despicable, etc. The most miserable or undesirable place in a particular area.

4. An obnoxious, arrogant, self-centered male who women can't seem to get enough of.

5. Someone who thinks he's cool.. but really, really not, and goes around doing things JUST to piss people off.

6. A prick/rude son-of-a-bitch who treats EVERYONE like they are beneath them. Doesn't care if he hurts someone's feelings.

7. Asshole is a multi-purpose label frequently used to describe an ignorant or inconsiderate person.

8. An inconsiderate, arrogant, uncaring, selfish, borderline sadistic, apathetic, mean, spiteful, dishonorable, bastard of a man who could tempt the Pope into a fight.

9. An inconsiderate person who tries to blame everything on other people. When his one defense make him seems like a jerk

10. A person with no regard for other peoples' feelings; the epidemy of a jerk; a prick; a completely self-centered individual; someone who isn't concerned with how their actions affect other people. A person who just wants to fuck around with your head.

11. You cannot fully construct a meaning that fully encompasses what this vicious insult means. If you're an asshole, you are disgusting, loathesome, vile, distasteful, wrathful, belligerent, agoraphobic, and more. Assholes are human fecal matter. They are the lowest of the low. They transcend all forms of immorality. It is the very worst of insults; to be called an asshole is to have your very soul ripped apart and shat on.

12. The opening at the lower end of the alimentary canal through which solid waste is eliminated from the body. The asshole is closely related to the sphincter which is a ringlike muscle that normally maintains constriction of the asshole or other orifice and relaxes as required to push your shitstool out of your body.

Personally, #1 #2 #8 and #10 are my "red flags". I'm not going to hesitate to back my booty up turn myself around and scurry away with the quickness!

Feel free to add your own ASSHOLE definitions, I would love to hear them.

"Laughter and latte"

The Plan

I found this poem and wanted to share: This year for the first time, I didn't make any New Year's Resolutions or fake ass promises! I wanted to break the cycle and decided to do something different. No Resolutions! But I did make a PLAN and I gave it to GOD and asked him to bless it. I just gotta a plan and a goal, that's all. Real basic and simple.

Heres the poem, that I enjoyed and wanted to share:

Destiny calls that challenges us to make choices that we might otherwise normally not make under the usual circumstances.
But nothing about this day is as the others...you see,
without a plan or a specific reason,
merely keeping pace with where it was being taken....until...
until it was intercepted by a defining moment that asked it
of what purpose? Or, better yet, forcing it to consider
and reconsider the junction and then choose...
The left? or The right?
Finally risking the road; the road less travelled,
hoping to forge a path all of its own that would take it
to a higher level, giving it a vantage point
to finally see the big picture...WOW! This is the plan...the plan GOD laid?
The plan Divinely made and the understanding would be attained once and for all...

A lamb or A Pig

I want to tell young women, no I take that back. I want to tell ALL women, young and old. "Go out and buy yourself a pair of scissors and write on the blades". "CUT THE CORD"! Yes, let that act as a reminder to disassociate yourselfs from the past. Or better yet, let it remind you to disassociate yourself from anything or anyone that means you NO GOOD!

Hum. I know ladies, you say yeah right easier said then done. Trust me, I know. But honestly, why bother associating yourself and getting all worked up over bullshit?

I was thinking about pigs. Yep, freaking pigs! Let's say we have a lamb and a pig and lets say, they both get thrown into a yuckie oozing mud hole. Now, in case you never heard that pigs wallow; they do. The pig will wallow in this mud, but the lamb will cry. She will cry out "I want out, I don't like this; I hate this - I'm not really like this- get me out"!!

And, It doesn't matter if you fall into the hole of mud or if someone throws you into it, that's not the issue at all. Its what you do, when your in the mud that matters? I pray, that if you are in the mud; that you realize it and know that there is something far more greater inside you that is willing and able!

Today, as you read: Say goodbye! Say goodbye to the habits, manipulation, bondage of someone controlling your lyfe, the blackmail, guilt, and emotional slavery. Say goodbye to the pimp and the pusher, the drinking and gambling, fighting and arguing, your low self esteem, that bad marriage that ended in divorce, that failure that kept you from moving forward and that man that treats you like shit and trys to keep you wallowing in the mud! Say goodbye and think about it,

Which would you rather be, a lamb or a pig?

Pronouce today as you cut the cord and get ready with great enthusiasm a new outpouring of a fresh release is headed your way!

GET UP and CUT THE CORD. The New You RESURRECTS NOW!

The INNER GAME of Health

2010 marks the year for health, wellness & fitness. I know at least for me it does. I kinda had a little battle with my health a few months ago which resulted in some weight loss. At first it made me a little scared, I was having alot of dizzy spells. Of course, I blamed it all on working too much. Ended up finding out that my blood pressure was sky high, sugar and chrolestral all up. Had to change some habits and loose some weight or else.

Now, I feel great! Sometymes this ole age thing catches up with you. I had this dude call me old, damn sure did; he just don't know how close he came to me doing a Serena Williams move and give him a backhand. lol Well, Everything is under control now with my health and weight. You know, I can even drop it like its hot and jump right back up. :) That was hard for me before. woot woot, go me!

Here is the article I was reading from Essence Mag and its talking about 2010 being the Health & Wellness Year. It also, talked about Meditation being one form of healing and he helps with releasing stress. The good part is that I already practice this (when I have tyme) and it does work!!

Listen up and try it for yourself: Chronic disease affects so many people in America. These complex problems - cancer, diabetes, and heart disease - require complex solutions. Part of the solution involves people learning to help themselves by creating health-promoting states of consciousness - this is the inner game of health.

Many tools are available, including meditation, guided imagery, yoga, and visualization. Visualization is a powerful method for improving your health and for achieving your goals in life.

Sit quietly and close your eyes. Create a mental image of the tissue, organ, or structure you want to help heal. If you have chronic muscular pain in your neck and shoulders, visualize those muscles as being loose, relaxed, and limber. Visualize plenty of blood flowing to those muscles. Visualize the tension in those muscles dissolving.

If you have painful arthritis in your hands, visualize your fingers and wrists moving through a complete and pain-free range of motion. Visualize the swelling in those joints dissolving. Visualize yourself as being healthy and pain-free.

Allow these visualizations to occur without any stress or strain. Your body is designed to respond to mental commands. Engage in the process and alllow the results to happen over time.

Dear Lover of my Soul

Dear Lover of my Soul:

It's a new year! Thank you soo much for seeing me through. Honestly, you know how difficult it was for me to let go. I struggled letting go and lover I'm glad you understand how I felt. I'm glad you understand what I wanted and what I needed. Thank you for your strength.

You still rock my world in every which way, even loose! lol

Ummm, Lover I don't have everything but I do have you and that's enough for me. I hear you whispering in my ear how much you love me and how you'll always be everything I will ever need. I appreciate your love and I appreciate you giving me stability that keeps me running back into your arms. I appreciate the conversation you share and the tyme you give me.

I just wanted you to know tonight, I love you with every breathe that I take.
Thank you for your strength and for your stability.

2010

Happy New Year readers!

2010 is going to be a great year. I just know it and I can feel it deep down in my soul! I say that for many many reasons and the main reasons is because of the number "10".

Anyone who knows me, knows I disect and dig deep into the meanings and reasonings of lyfe. With that said, the number 10 has a biblical meaning. "10" stands for completion. It's God's perfect number.

Heres the research of "10": It has been already pointed out that ten is one of the perfect numbers, and signifies the perfection of Divine order, commencing, as it does, an altogether new series of numbers. The first decade is the representative of the whole numeral system, and originates the system of calculation called "decimals," because the whole system of numeration consists of so many tens, of which the first is a type of the whole.

Completeness of order, marking the entire round of anything, is, therefore, the ever-present signification of the number ten. It implies that nothing is wanting; that the number and order are perfect; that the whole cycle is complete

There are so many reasons why I personally believe 2010 is going to be off the chart. For many of us, 2009 was a bad year for many different reasons. I look back over the past 10 years and I personally have had too many bad tymes. I got divorced, moved, lost money, had serious health problems, house broken into, almost witnessed my son's head gettin blown off, I've been shot and left for dead and etc. And lastly, I look back at 2009 and I truly can admit that I wasted the whole year holding on to a man that never wanted or cared about me, yeah truth hurts but denial is worse. Well, that's all the past of 2000-2009.

I think for a lot of us, we have sown alot of sleepless nites, we've reaped weary tears, had our share broken hearts and here we are still here. This is all reasons why I believe that all the prior years hence 2010 has been building up for a year of completeness. All our hearts desires are headed our way! Believe dat!

2010 is the cycle of completeness. Divine (DIVA) Order.

Happy New Year.
